Microsoft na stronach PressPass opublikował notatkę z informacją o ogłoszeniu dostępności wersji beta 1 Windows Vista. Zamieścił także kilka zrzutów ekranów.

Informacja o tym czym charakteryzować się będzie nowa wersja Windowsa jest dość długa, więc może zacytuję tylko odrobinę:
Mimimalne wymagania systemowe będą znane najwcześniej do lata 2006. Poniższe mogą być jednak pomocne:

512 MB RAMu
karta graficzna ze wsparciem dla DirectX® 9.0
nowoczesny komputer oparty na Intel Pentium lub AMD Athlon
